"Yes, We Can" Conference June 13-15, 2011

This conference is for professionals and parents who are responsible for apraxic children K-3.  The theme underscores the ability of these children to learn if the appropriate teaching methods are utilized.  Therapy starts with the disability;  education starts with the abilities of the child and progresses in a manner which encourages small successes which build to larger successes and a greater confidence of "Yes, I can".   Language, reading, counting, sequencing, classifying, sorting are all taught in a way which builds confidence and encourages independence.  The conference speakers include Dr. Ton deGrauw, MD, Phd, Dr. Robert Basil, PsyD, Dr. Kathy Winterman, EdD, St. Rita staff, and a parent panel discussing issues which everyone faces in enabling children with apraxia to become successful both in school and in life.  Communication success breeds confidence.  St. Rita Comprehensive Communication Resources is the facilitator of the conference in collaboration with St. Rita School for the Deaf.  Go to http://www.apraxiaeducation.org/ to register for the conference.
